Acknowledgements
Many people were helpful in making the life possible: my wife, our respective
parents as well as those individuals within various companies who had the faith to
give the assignments that brought the opportunities.
But, before any of that, I have to offer my thanks and appreciation to the guys and
one girl at the in-house Rolls-Royce Photo Unit in Scotland.
I went there, a raw and somewhat arrogant amateur snapper, with delusions that
I was a pretty good printer, at the very least.
It didn't take me long to disabuse myself of that illusion. It was only about five years later, when
I bade the Unit farewell in order to venture into the world of commercial photography, that
I could honestly claim expertise in the production of both black and white and colour prints.
Thank you; you taught me so much.
In commerce, I'd like to thank Ron Stuart, John Cherry, Angus Meldrum,
Colin Bennet, Sam Baxter and my only muse Fiona MacDonald; I won't forget Kay Turpie, Rona Hutchison,
Ronnie Paton, Eric Peacock, Hugh McClure, John Struthers, Hugh Hill and Allan Walls.
A special thanks to Scott Saunders in Nassau
and, always remembered, my best teacher ever: Barbara Farr.
Clients who made my better days were the Hewden-Stuart Group, Tennent Caledonian
Breweries, Glayva Liqueur, Teacher's Whisky; British Vogue, The International Wool
Secretariat (IWS), Twomax Fashions, House of Fraser; Sommerville & Milne Advertising
and the Clydesdale Bank, Barbour Threads, J&P Coats and The Scottish Design Centre.
I thank you for all of it.
